If you are a flavor and style addict, always looking for something new in Brisbane, Allonda, the newest offering from the famous Nota team in Paddington, is no big surprise. Learn how Notá’s experience and passion have given birth to a space in the laneways of Newstead that has its very own unique identity, warmth and modern soul.Dining
Allonda: A beginning, a new address
In late 2022, the outspoken duo of Kevin Docherty and Sebastiaan de Kort dreamed of replicating the magic of their much-loved European eatery Nota in Paddington for Newstead. However, Allonda is nothing more than another Nota iteration; it is, in fact, a fully modern, two-floor, glass-bathed wonderland, striking a resplendent balance between grandeur and comfort.
Design and ambiance: Open air, open mind
Allonda’s interior design instantly calls one into the premises upon entering. High ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, light timber furniture, and a cool marble bar—one should appreciate all of it. Allonda is a major departure from the old warm brick look of Nota, giving way to modernity, openness, and minimalism. The design of the restaurant reflects sleekness and was established by Brisbane architects Twohill & James and LPS Group.
The menu: European classicals with an Australian freshness
European-flavored small plates and an inventive pasta or two, with dazzling freshness from the sea, fresh meats from the kitchen and glossy burrata from the raw bar, are all simplified down to what is basically an Allonda menu. Sam Todd is at the helm with experience from Stanley in Brisbane and Qualia on Hamilton Island.
Every dish lands on the plate with the freshness and passion of local produce-red-wine braised beef or a classic pasta.
Wine & Drinks: New in Each and Every Glass
Allonda does not fall short in wine, with over 90 bottles, special cocktails like the White Chocolate Negroni, and a feeling of being special. There will definitely be something new to try if you are a lover of wines or classical drinks.
Society and location
Allonda is based in the base of Newstead’s modern apartment block ‘Dwell’, and its location underlines the trendy and vibrant community character. “Newstead may be small, but now it is full of energy, community, and creative people,” says Sebastian de Kort-who is also a co-owner of Nota-.

Nota and Allonda in Paddington: Same soul, new face
Nota has oaked and bricked walls and a more classic ambiance, but Allonda is very much modern in theme with its dining space, windows, marble, and minimalism. Their different constructs are that of service, taste, and experience; otherwise, both places are the same soul.
Conclusion: Allonda, like Newstead, is kept new, but in your own city, with a promise of adventure.
